Our Suggestion: Yes, it is possible to develop a strong relationship long-distance. Make sure you call him asap and find out the real reason for his backing out of the trip. It could just be jitters and worry that you won't like him. I don't think it means that he doesn't like you anymore. I don't think we would have made plans for the trip if he didn't like you.
