Do you have some advice for this person?

Visitor's Question:
My fiance and I have been together for almost three years and recently had a son together. He asked me to marry him Christmas Eve of 2004. All of this sounds great, but I can't seem to get over the fact that he was engaged once before to someone else a couple of years ago. In a way, I resent him for the fact that it took me having his son to get him to ask me to marry him (I don't mean to say it was planned that way), and although his ex cheated on him and was a huge liar, he asked her, seemingly without any argument. I feel like I'm falling into second place here, and I don't like that feeling. When I get upset with my fiance, I always drudge up these things from his past and it really bothers him. Is there any way to get over this? Any advice?

Our Suggestion:
It's so easy why did you ask?

Just forget the past! It's gone, it's over, it's done, forever.

What you have is the moment to live in and the future to look forward to. I don't think you want to jeopardize your young son's future happiness because of something from the past. Nor do you want to jeopardize your own and your fiance's future happiness.

Snap out of it and forget. Try hard each day to do this and don't let it intrude in your wonderful present!
George
