She's flirting but won't date

Visitor's Question:
This girl I know - one day us and some other teens from the church went on a trip. On the way back she was talking about me with all of the girls on the bus (I was the only boy there). She pops up in front where I was siting and says she wants to be my princess . On a totally different trip she asks me if I feel like her friend is getting in the way of us.

Later on I tell her I love her and she comes out of nowhere and says she can't date.

I am confused does she want to be in a relationship or not tell me.

Our Suggestion:
You say she "comes out of nowhere" and says she can't date. But you had just said you loved her! What should she think was coming next? People don't say "I love you - now go away." When someone says "I love you" it indicates they want to be with you. And if she's not allowed to date, she's trying to be honest and fair with you and making sure you know that.

A relationship is all about honesty, trust and communication. She's told you straight out that she can't date you. But she's also been telling you she really likes you. The two aren't confusing! They're both very straightforward. So you need to talk with her and find out WHY she can't date. Is she not old enough? Is there another reason? If it's just age, then be her best friend. There's no reason to dive into dating - boyfriend-girlfriend are really best friends at heart. So be her best friend and do things with her and be there for her. You don't have to "date" to love her and be close to her.
