Visitor's Question:
Okay, My boyfriend which i've been on and off with for 10 years not to mentioned engaged to also which i broke off because i felt we were not ready for that step as far as maturity reasons just in the last year joined the Navy. At the point in which he left we were just friends and i had moved on and ended up having a son. Then he started calling all the time. He started talking about the future between us and everything else. He said that my son didn't bother him. Then in April he flew home as a surprise for my B-day. In July i went down to visit him. Everything was great, and it may still be, and i could just be reading to far into what is actually nothing. But after i came back from seeing him things started to change. The future was never brought up anymore, the distance alone was killing both of us, and C* became an issue. He said his feelings haven't changed at all. Now he's home, and it's ony been a week. He's been gone seeing friends and what not. I'm wanting more with him, but he holds everything in as far as emotionally. He hardly ever opens up. He went to see his brother in a college town, and they went out both nights and he never called. So should i assume that i'm just being used, and move on or what....And now he's latched on to my son. So with all that I'm totally confused! I need some advice. At this point i want to pop the question to him, but yet i don't know if that is what he has in store too....Please HELP!!!!

Sincerely,
Totally confused

Our Suggestion:
Try to get him to open up.

Something is troubling him and he will feel better if he can get it out. You will feel better too. Is it too early to think of counseling? It could be useful if you think it is time.

On the other hand, he's only been home a week. He may need time to mentally adjust to his new life with you and your boy. Maybe you should give it more time before doing anything drastic. The holiday season is coming up and that might make things more pleasant.

Be optimistic! George
