I think my ex broke up with me because I was not intimate enough with her

Visitor's Question:
I have always had this feeling that my ex broke up with me because I was not intimate enough with her. She tried several times to get together but I am a virgin and she wasn't. I did not want to rush our relationship. We were never really "alone" enough for me to be comfortable (my parent or sister were in the house or her friends were downstairs) with the exception of 1 or 2 times. I was also very afraid that I wasn't what she thought and that she would stop loving me. I'm still very scared to start a new relationship because I know it will lead to sex and again, I'm afraid they'll like me less. Is this normal or is this just something that I'm experiencing? Should I really care what girlfriends think or just allow them to see me for what I am and accept it?

Our Suggestion:
Girls are no different than boys in being interested in intimacy.

Some girls are very interested, some boys are very interested, sometimes both are shy about it. Girls also have to worry about pregnancy, cleanliness, and some about their reputations.

The best thing to do, but it's hard, is to talk to your girlfriend about sex and how each of you feels about it. This way there is not a lot of nervousness, shyness, and confusion.

Don't be shy about intimacy and girls. They know as much and probably more about it than you do and will let you know it if they are not comfortable with what you are doing.

So why relax and enjoy! George
