Wants to be a better friend with her

Visitor's Question:
Its this girl that I've known for 3 years. I'm a freshman in high school and she's in eighth grade. Last year in the beggining of the school year we liked each other. Later on we figured out that we didn't have time for each other because we hardly saw each other daily. I always call her. She hardly calls me and she sais that she likes me as a friend. We have little convorsations on the phone but she hardly talks. Right now I'm at the point where I dont know if she's just trying to be nice to me or what. I would just like to start our friendship over. I’m not sayin that I want to go wit her (maybe later on), I’m just not comfortable with our friendship right now. This is why I told her that we should’ve met in high school because I knew all this would happen. Its like she left me in suspense. No matter what I’m going through or whatever girl I might be going out with, she is always in the back of my mind. Even the way I talk 2 her on the phone isn’t the way I would talk to a regular friend. All I wanna say is this. I like her as a friend just like she like me as a friend but I think we’re lying to each other cause we are not calling each other like regular friends do nor do we ever hang out. I just want to know how we could start a better friendship even though she's in middle school and I'm in high school. What I should talk about on the phone to prove to her that I really want us to be better friends.

Our Suggestion:
The important thing for a friendship is to be there when you are needed, to like the other person, and to have the ability to talk about private things.

Try increasing the amount of time you spend talking about shared feelings about mutual friends, fears, desires, future plans, school, sports, etc.

She will become more attached to you when you do this. Buy her a small holiday present and give it to her during the week before Christmas.

If you want more details about her feelings for you... ask!

Good luck, George
