This has got to be one of the hardest situations we have on the website. You are here because you know or suspect that the person you love is betraying you - betraying your trust, betraying you emotionally and perhaps physically. You probably feel angry, sad, betrayed, unwanted, furious, wanting revenge, wanting him/her to love you, wanting things to be back "the way they were before".

The most important thing you can do here is realize that things can NOT ever go backwards. Believe me, thousands of parents whose kids are hit by cars wish for a time-rewinder, to hit those brakes a bit more quickly, to yell out to their kid more loudly. So you need to take a deep breath. This thing happened. You are both alive. There ARE worse things in life, and you will get through this. You just need to get some coping skills and find a path.

STEP 1

This is painful, accept that. It is going to be rough, accept that. Then roll up your sleeves and get to work. We have a ton of tips on how to talk to your partner, how to confront if necessary, and then how to get through it and heal (or leave). You can't just let this situation linger. It will only get worse. Take action and then clean up the situation.
