I know several intelligent women who married lazy / non-working guys with the theory that "he won't leave me, he has to depend on me". Which undoubtedly is the same mentality that has smart guys marrying bimbos and encouraging them not to work. So maybe it is a common insecurity amongst intelligent people, that they are not 'good enough' to keep a match any other way ...
