Hugging!

Hurray, no longa** 4-paragraph situation!
I think i'm close enough to my crush to hug her. Thing is: how do you get to that hug? I know some of those prep guys just put on a sad face and mutter "Hug?" but uh... i'm not a prep guy. That would not match my personality even slightly. I don't really know how you 'ask' for a hug. I was thinking if she's alone, just sneak up behind her, yell BLEH and hug her from behind, scaring the hell out of her in the process (She's the type that wouldn't get mad at you for that). I just need a push, a violent push if necessary, in the right direction.
PS: I'm speaking for everyone when I say THANK YOU. You help person after person, and you don't even know them. And it's not like they're paying you or anything. Again, thanks.

My advice is to avoid the prep approach and alao avoid the surprise from behind approach.
A good thing would be to simply say "I would like to hug you, is that ok?"
Most people would be happy to hear that and glad to comply.
