Does he like me as more than a friend?

Okay I have known this guy for what seems like forever. He's my friends ex-boyfriend and I like him, but I don't know if he likes me. Whenever we see each other he gives me a hug, he is usually the one to initiate it. He makes me laugh, we talk about all kinds of stuff, but we don't see each other more than maybe once a week. I was working this one time and I was sick with a cold and he brought me something to eat(he was also working, we work at the same place). I thought it was very sweet. He and my friend have been broken up for a long time now, and he has always been nice to me. I have been trying to figure out if he likes me for a couple months, but I still don't get it. Is there any way for you to help me? Please let me know and thank you for listening.

Either write him a note or ask a friend to ask him.
In the note, tell him you are "developing feelings" for him and would like to hang out.
If your friend asks him say that you like him and does he like you.
Or you could find out the easy way by just asking him :)
