For it was not into my ear you whispered, but into my heart. It was not my lips you kissed, but my soul. -- Judy Garland

Why did he start getting friendly with me ?

Visitor's Question from a 16-20 year old Female
Ok. There's this guy in my gym class I'd been crushing on for months. We would speak to each other rarely but we always used to exchange looks and he returned my smiles every time. I felt I could be in with a chance but since he is younger and I'm a chicken I did nothing about it. Two weeks ago we met outside the club by chance, and he accompanied me to the bus station completely out of the blue so we had a nice chance to talk. We exchanged msn addresses...we began talking online and he even waited for me after one of the classes. I was starting to get my hopes up. But recently something happened...some pals found out that last week he tried to tell another girl at the club who's younger than me that he fancied her. Problem was, when he went over and tried to talk to her she was making out with some other guy. I was quite hurt when I found out. I didn't know what to do. I just figured I should forget all about him, even though I don't understand what happened. My friends caught him staring at me sometimes, and his body language seemed positive. Anyway, we talked online the other day for an hour and it felt nice again. But I just can't make up my mind. Should I just be friends with him and try to get over him, or should I fight for his affection now that the other gal blew him off? I'm so clueless. And why did he start getting friendly with me when he was planning to hook up with that other girl? Does that mean we never had anything in the first place?
Oh, I'd really appreciate your help here. Thanx

RomanceClass.com Advice
People don't always do the sensible thing.

That makes it hard to figure them out. Try to wipe the memory of his approaching that other girl from your mind.

Keep making friends with him and letting him know that you like him and soon it will be time for one of you to make a move. When that time comes, you could tell him that you are "developing feelings" for him.

Good luck! George
