a Fleeting moment of insecurity..

We often have visitors write in with solutions to each others' problems. Here is a visitor's solution to one of our visitor's questions.

Original Visitor's Question from a 21-30 year old Female
So i had a really awesome boyfriend. He was hot, he was sexy, he had passion for things and respect for his family and had the right kind of morals. He had asked me out and we had been dating for a mere week, when over a simple text message i let slip an insecurity that i had. I said that i sometimes felt like i didn't measure up to him b/c of how awesome he is, and that i felt like plain-jane compared to the other gorgeous girls he's dated in the past.

I didn't really give it much thought since i didnt think it would be a big deal, since it was only a fleeting moment. But for some reason, he flipped over it and said that he "couldn't see me the same way again" and that he just thinks its better if we just stay friends. He said that if i was saying that even before things even got serious he doesnt think it'll work out. I kept my cool and told him that i get that what i say is no longer going to matter, so sorry it turned out this way..and he did the whole 'sorry its not you it's me" approach.

To this day i still feel really wronged and unjustified.
I havent tried talking to him since, since i dont want to seem clingy or annoy him..but is there any chance of us getting back together? And even more importantly, i still don't understand why he said that he couldn't see me the same way anymore...it's been tearing me apart, since i thought we genuinely cared for each other, yet over a stupid text message he freaks out..or maybe i was just another experimental girlfriend to him? i just dont get it.
