Should I Admit to Having Cheated?

We often have visitors write in with solutions to each others' problems. Here is a visitor's solution to one of our visitor's questions.

Original Visitor's Question from a 31-40 year old Female
I have been in a loving relationship with my boyfriend for 3 years now. During that time I have never that about or wanted to be with another man. This all changed when an x boyfriend came back in to my life. We were spending and evening together when one thing lead to another and before I knew it I had cheated on my boyfriend.

I do not want to have an affair or continue this relationship. I am deeply in love with my boyfriend and do not want to lose him. My question is should I tell him that I slept with another man?

User Submitted Advice from a 13-20 year old Male
I Say to Lie

Do not tell him!!! It will only damage his trust for you. It will take a longer time for him to trust you again then you forgiving yourself. However you have to watch out for your behavior changes and make sure you dont act jealous or insecure of him cheating. Act the same, love him more, and let things get back to normal. But most of all never, never cheat again!!!

[RomanceClass says - Although we'll post this user response, we would NEVER ever recommend deliberately lying to a partner. Now you're going to put on an acting job too to "trick him" with your actions? Believe us, he is going to find out sooner or later. The longer you go on deceiving him, the less likely he will be to ever forgive you.]
