Original Visitor's Question from a 31-40 year old Female
How do I suggest some time apart/taking a break?
My boyfriend and I have been together for about 8 months and the last 2 have been lots of fighting even though things were SO great earlier in our relationship. We have stupid fights and he is still mad that I moved about 40 miles away (20 more than before) even as I had made plans to move far before I met him. We have talked about getting married someday and how great living together would be. I still think I might want to marry him, he is great and I don't know if there is anyone better out there. But I just started a new job and he has a few years of law school finish(we are both 23). I just don't know if I want a serious relationship with fights and stress and all the work for 3 more years until we would get married. He is not the kind of guy that is ok with breaks. How can I approach the subject so that he will agree with me and take a 6 month or 1 year break and then be together again?

Thanks!

You need your space too

I have no idea when this was poster. Hopefully I'm not to late. I think that if you have problems arguing, over every little thing, then that is grounds to take a break, but maybe a couple weeks, or however long it takes. don't put a time limit on it, though. If you don't like arguing, and he does, then yall have to meet somewhere in the middle.
Don't yield yourself, and just agree with everything he say's, even if he's wrong, just to avoid an argument.
He needs to learn to chill out and not take things so seriously if yall argue about silly things.
There are always times to just say.."okay, sweetie. whatever you say.." but you can not do that all the time. that would drive ANYBODY madd. Just keep with it, and if you want to take a break, let him know that. It's free will in this life, and you need your space to.
