Visitor's Question:
My ex and I are both 14 and in the 8th grade. Our relationship kind of started near the end of the 7th grade. He almost asked me out in May of 2005 but chickened out. Over the summer I got practically obsessed with him. Then school started again, and nothing happened until September, when I finally decided to ask him out and got rejected.

I was crushed, but got over him. This gave me plenty of time to get my life back to normal instead of building my entire existence around him. We didn't speak for another month or two. I heard taht he liked one of my friends, but I didn't care.

The Monday before the dance in November, he finally asked out my friend and was rejected... Then, at the dance on Friday, we were talking and I found out that I still liked him, and he still had a crush on me! So we started dating, and I was scared that he was using me to make my friend jealous. But then I broke the three-week record, and that became a month, and then he gave me a real gold necklace for Christmas - almost our two month anniversary! When Christmas break was over, he started acting weird and, the day before our two-month, broke up with me.

I got over him (or thought I did) soon after that, and went out with one of my other guy friends. About two weeks later he went out with one of our mutual friends, and I was jealous, but what could I do? I ignored that feeling for awhile until my new boyfriend and I broke it off because it was awkward.

A few days after me and my new ex broke up, my old ex broke up with his g/f. The whole day that day, he was paying extra attention to me. Since then, he's been doing bizarre things. He'll ignore me for a day, then the next he'll talk my ear off. One day he walked me halfway down the hallway talking about a funny memory we shared. That same day I caught him staring at me at lunch. I later told my BFF, who informed me that she and my ex had been talking in the lunch line and he had asked if I still liked him.

The next day we had rehearsal for the school play, and he sat next to me and flirted with me the whole time. At one point, I joked around about how he had no life, and he said "No, not really" and laughed, but then got quiet and said something about how he needed a girlfriend. He ignores me and avoids me, then acts as if "I want you back" is written on his forehead. Is he confused or just stringing me along? Should I get over him or give him space to think things through before doing anything? HELP!

Our Suggestion:
He is confused.

Since you still like him, why not find out what he is feeling.

The way to do this is to ask him out.

Good luck! George
