Visitor's Question:
After we broke up my boyfriend and I still lived together for 10 weeks. I knew he was in love with this girl even before we broke up but he kept telling me that was not the case. Now he has been in a relationship with her for 4 weeks. He says she's perfect and I'm not. But if she's so perfect then why is he after one of my friends too?
After 8 weeks (after the break up)he told me he wasn't in love with me and cares for me just as a friend. He felt like this the last months of our relationship. I know he's lying because he can't look me straight in the face when he says things like this. And he can't keep his stories straight about anything.
He changes his mind all the time in reaction to what I have to say. He now says that will never get back together. And if I just change my mind about the way he feels for me we can do the same stuff we did as a couple.
He cried when I said I threw away our rings.
I was his first girlfriend and he always wondered if sex could be better with someone else or another relationship could be better.
Does he really want to be friends? Does he just want the opportunity to keep manipulating me? I really need some clear answers because I'm not getting them from him. Please help me. It's driving me crazy.

Our Suggestion:
It's hard to get a handle on this because he is self-contradictory.

You didn't mention whether you love him or not but let's assume you do.

My advice is to keep him as a friend... we all need friends. But let go of him as a romantic interest... he has proven himself to be disloyal, hurtful, and untrustworthy and not worthy of you.

Good luck! George
