Visitor's Question:
My girlfriend of a year recently broke up with me. We had gone home for spring break and things were great at the start of the week, but she began to ignore me, and flat out refusing to talk to me. She said that she was not happy with things, which is a mystery to me because from outsiders opinions she seemed extremely happy, always talking about me when I was never around. She told me she didn't want to be me or anyone. saying that she just wanted to have fun with her friends. But we always hung out with her friends when we were together. I understand she is trying to find herself, but I just can't give up on her, I can't not fight for what has been taken from me. We had spoke of marriage and the like, and how she had never felt this way about anyone before. obviously I believed that and this break up came as a complete surprise to me. I need help as to what I need to do...I want to be with her, the relationship was a great one, and I just can't give up on this. Help!?!?!?

Our Suggestion:
I've noticed that at about age 21 women develop a need to break away and find themselves.

They want time alone to be with friends and to be free of a relationship.

Perhaps this is happening to your g/f. My advice is to stay in contact with her as a friend and see what develops.

Good luck! George
