Am I the Only One

Suggest Advice

Do you have some advice for this person?

Visitor's Question:
I am a reasonably jealous person and have been most of my life. I have always assumed it was because I looked at situations and figured what I would do if it occurred to me. With that if I was not sure about trusting me how was I to trust someone else. On the flip side my partners have always trusted me. I am now having difficulties with my fiancee and we are close to separating. She has also shown a very untrusting side of herself recently. Is it a cause of jealousy to feel jealous because that is what you would do or am I completely off base with this issue?

Our Suggestion:
Yes, not trusting yourself will lead to not trusting others.

If you have proven yourself to be untrustworthy then that is even more reason for jealousy to appear. Have you been untrustworthy?

It would probably help if you and your fiancee went for professional counseling before getting married. A counselor could get to the root of the problem and help you solve the problem.

Good luck! George
