Visitor's Question:
I was in a strong relationship with my girlfriend for 2 years. She move away 11 months ago to go to graduate school hundreds of miles away. We would see each other once a month. Either I would fly up to see her or she would fly down to see me. Everything was going great. We had talked about getting married, moving in together, etc. Two months ago she decided to break up with me over the phone. She said she thought our families were too different, we had grown apart, she didn't like the long distance, and that she didn't know what she wanted to do in the future with her career. She really broke my heart. Ever since then she has been on my mind every second. She's all I think about. I know she is my soulmate and I don't want to loose her. A week ago I called her and we had a completely normal conversation. We laughed, teased each other, and it felt like we were still together. I know she is trying to see other people. If I tell her how I feel, I think I will scare her off and lose any chance of getting back together. If I make it seem like everything is alright, then I am afraid she will move on and I won't have a chance. I know she is my soulmate and I need to know what I can do to get her to come back to me.

Our Suggestion:
Sorry you are in this situation.

Although it may be late in the game, think about moving to where she is so you can eliminate the LDR problem.

But first, you need to convince her that it would be good for her to have you back in your life. You more than anyone can figure this out. One thing you can say to her is that you are having trouble giving her up. This should not scare her off. She may offer up suggestions which will get the communications flowing. Then two other elements of a good relationship, trust and affection, might come along naturally.

It might help to see a professional counselor too.

Good luck! George
