I want my ex back, but he is dating someone new

Visitor's Question:
My ex and I dated for 3 months and we had a great relationship...or at least I thought we did. We broke up 18 days ago. The reason we broke up is because his ex was still in the picture. He would allow her to do her laundry at his house, keep her personal belongings there, etc. and swore to me that they were only friends. He would do things with her and wouldn't tell me about it and finally one night, I found out that she spent the night over there. (I rec'd an anonymous email from one of her friends telling me about it). I confirmed her car was there and I broke up with him the next day. He swore to me that there was nothing going on, yet I knew that he was not being honest with me. When I told him about the anonymous email I'd received, he chose to believe her over me and said I had trust issues and too much drama in my life. He said he didn't want to jump back into "fixing a relationship" but wanted to remain friends.

Since then, he has initiated the majority of the contact. I've been responsive and nice, but have kept him at a distance (i.e., have not chased after him). He has continued doing things with his ex since we broke up, but I just found out that he's now dating someone else (I've been replaced in less than 3 weeks). He emailed me today and told me that this new girl just received an anonymous email just like I did from one of his ex's friends and so now he has completely cut the ex out of the picture.

But, now he's interested in this new girl and is pursuing things with her. It breaks my heart because he didn't believe me when I told him about the email I'd rec'd and he wouldn't cut the ex out of his life. He replaced me in less than 3 weeks and when the same thing happens to the new girl...he goes 100% no contact with the ex.

Even though it killed me, I took the high road and told him that I was happy that he'd met someone. I'm trying to be his friend in the hopes that this new relationship is just a rebound and that hopefully, he'll come back to me once he's done with her.

Do you think there is a chance? Also what would you recommend I do to position myself in a favorable manner to have him come back to me??

Our Suggestion:
My real advice is to wash this man right out of your hair.

But that's not what you asked. First, yes there is a chance, and probably a good one, that he will be back with you. He's a woman hopper and no reason to think he won't hop back to you.

To get him back, remain his friend and be supportive of him. Whenever he would think of you, he will have good thoughts.

Good luck! George
