a nice guy?

Visitor's Question:
There's a guy that I've been flirting with for the past month or two just over the internet and a little at school, and he seemed really nice and sweet. Almost like the perfect boyfriend. And better yet, he's free. He's a senior in highschool and I'm a sophomore in highschool. Just recently he asked if I'd like to go star gazing with him after a football game. I'd really like to, but I know my parents would never let me. When I told him they wouldn't, he said that they wouldn't stop me if they didn't know about it. I don't think he was joking either. I can't lie to my parents, but I still sort of like him. And I think he's currently expecting me to go. How do I get out of this? Does him expecting me to lie mean that he's not as sweet as he seemed? What should I do?

Our Suggestion:
Most teenagers tell their parents a small lie or two It's not a good thing to do but not unusual.

Can you ask him to think of something else to do rather than star gazing? Tell him you will think about star gazing for the future. That way you could get to know him better and he could meet your parents.

If he won't do this then he is isn't a very nice guy.

Good luck! George
