Should I try if she's told me no?

Do you have some advice for this person?

Visitor's Question:
I dated this girl for 8 months, and we loved each other very much. She broke it off halfway through summer on a tear-filled night because she didn't want to miss me in college and didn't want an ugly breakup to ruin our relationship. That next week she came out and told me she had no more feelings for me and didn't love me anymore.

I tried showing her how much I cared by driving for 5 hours to see her (there and back) while at a job site away from home, and have sent her flowers, but she says she doesn't want me to try for her. She's not going for any other guy, I'm sure of that.

I've been lifting and running to try and impress her, and I've stopped the things that she didn't like about me while we dated. Am I wasting my time still trying to go for her? What else could I do to help? How will I know if it's working? She's totally worth everything I do.

Our Suggestion:
My advice is to continue to pursue her.

Keep up your exercise, dress sharp, give her a present now and then.

Ask her if you can call her once a week for 15 min just to see how she is doing. Be cheerful and no talk of relationships.

Then ask her out for dinner "as a friend." Talk and talk, share feelings, and be affectionate. It may work.

Good luck! George
