Visitor's Question:
I've liked this guy in my class for the longest time. I flirted with him one day at a class party. This was a big milestone for me--I am so shy. I made eye contact. I think he got the idea that I was interested. We've had fun together since then. I really think he likes me. We've gone out on "friendly" dates within the group safety of other friends. But I sense he's wanting to experience more of what he first saw in the eye contact. I am hesitating asking him out on a serious date. But I have been trying to keep my shyness from getting the best of me by making the first move. My friends keep telling me the guy should do it. They say, if he was serious about me he would be more forward. He has shown all signs of being interested--we enjoy each others company--only not romantically yet. How can I be more convincing without seeming desperate? I feel like a nice romantic setting brings me out more than a pub does. I saw him a couple weeks ago, and he said that night that we'll probably see each other again soon.

Our Suggestion:
The guy sounds interested in you.

Ask him out for a dutch date to a nice restaurant. Have some drinks and relax. Go where the flow takes you and try to direct the interaction to some romantic end. You can do this by being flirtatious, smile a lot, laugh at his jokes, and have a lot of eye contact.

By going through this process you will find more about how he feels towards you.

Good luck! George
