Best Friend Relationship

Do you have some advice for this person?

Visitor's Question:
I have a best friend who dated my old best friend for about 9 months. During those months, I was always there for her to talk about her problems. Well, I got too attached and told her that I thought that WE would make a good couple. She didnt agree and said that we would never make it. But While she was going through rough times with her boyfriend and his family, She would go to all my family's functions. She soon became a family member right along with the rest of them.

A month after she broke up, (Last Saturday), we were in the car on a venture to get some ice cream, and all of a sudden she blurted out that we would have been a perfect couple. I asked why, and she told me: Because your family accepts me for who I am, You always lend an ear for me, and we can always work out our own problems. I said "Oh really" and just continued on my drive with the biggest smile on my face. She had the same size one on hers. Almost to her house, I asked her if we could ever be....And she said she didnt know.

And now, A week after that ride, I am finding myself extremely jeleous of the people she hanging out with.

What should I do? Continue trying to get a relationship with her?....Or Find someone else?

Our Suggestion:
It's only been a week and you haven't had time to think this through.

She is obviously attracted to you and seems interested in exploring a relationship between you two.

Forget the jealousy unless you want to drive yourself crazy and probably chase her away. Fight the jealousy as hard as you can and tell it to go away and stop bothering you. Keep doing this until the jealousy gives up and quits trying to interfere with your life.

Meanwhile hang out with her, talk with her, phone her, etc. etc. Invite her over to your house often since she seems to like that a lot.

It's way to early to start to think of someone else.

Good luck! George
