He Treated Me like Dirt, I Want Him Back

Do you have some advice for this person?

Visitor's Question:
i broke up with my boyfriend of 5 and a half months abt 2 months ago... im tryin my best to get over him and believe me it worked for the time i never saw him... but the day i did it was juz a totally different attitude although i never talked to him and vice of versa everything came rushin back to me and i was as torn apart as i was the day we broke up...

the reason for our break up was a constant set of lies and i found out by a couple of his friends that he was making the whole deal up to prevent something...

anyhow later i found out that he was taking someone else to his prom and not me and that juz was the end of it...

i recently forgave him and since we're ending up in the same university i told him that we should juz take things from there and see where life takes us... but i still love him despite all he's put me thru...

ive had relationships before but nothing like this has ever happened to me... not ever...

plz help cuz i really wanna get him back into my life...

Our Suggestion:
I know you miss him. It's only been a few months. But the MAIN basis for any relationship is honesty and trust. You have to believe that this person will be there for you, will be there tomorrow, and is acting with your best interests at heart.

Instead this guy lied to you constantly for his own selfish reasons and then did the worst betrayal - taking someone else to an incredibly important social occasion. He was YOUR BOYFRIEND and he was going to walk around at the prom with ANOTHER GIRL ON HIS ARM???

You really need to take a LONG time apart from him and get yourself grounded. You deserve better than him. You deserve someone who honors and respects you and who you can trust.

give yourself time and really get over him. You might be a friend with him in the future if you wanted, but I wouldn't even do that. To me a friend is someone I can rely on - not someone who is happy lying to me for his own selfish reasons.
