Do you have some advice for this person?

Visitor's Question:
My ex bf and I have been together for the past two years (we were both each others first real love) and he recently broke up with me about a month ago because he said we fight way too much and how it should not be this hard...So, after some time I wrote him a simple short letter telling him that I agree with him on the fact that we should not be together (even though in my heart I still would like to work on things.) On the other hand, I think I screwed it up BIG TIME. A couple days ago I saw him at a party and ended up going back to his place to stay in his guest bedroom bc there was a dilemma so he wanted to help out but instead ended up hooking up! I feel like there is no way we can ever be together now bc of my mistake. The WORST part about all this is that he asked another girl out ONLY a week after he broke up with me therefore he cheated on her with me. ((Keep in mind he told me he is going out with her because he is trying not to be down))) The next day he told me he loves me and how I am the number one girl he cares about and how he will always be there for me/do anything for but confidently says we should just be friends. I am very confused now because of what he said to me and honestly I feel like he is too. The last major thing I said to him was that if he doesn't tell his new gf that he cheated on her then it will show me a lot about his character. I mean, perhaps after seeing what he did to his new gf maybe I shouldn't even want to be with him?? Through it all, I still want to be with him and it kills me knowing he is with another girl...Please help!

Our Suggestion:
You did the right thing by telling him to confess to his girlfriend.

But my advice is to let him go. He has shown that he isn't in deep love with you and that he can cheat. Neither of those are qualities you want in a mate.

You can't get him back until he breaks up with this other gf. You would be leading him into cheating again. So, when you talk with him again, make it clear that you want him back but that he would have to be honest, and that the arguments are history. That is something for you two to work on.

Best of luck! George
