Do you have some advice for this person?

Visitor's Question:
okay so me and my ex broke up 2 years ago. didnt talk no contact. he text me and told me everything i have been waiting to hear for the past 2 years. so i decided to give it another shot.. cant spend forever wondering why.. right?

well little did i know my "best friend" was trying to get my ex to date her, and me to date his best friend. well that just made matters worse. not in order to get back together he wants me to prove to him i dont want his best friend i want to be with him.. and i tried to explain to him that the feelings i DID have for his best friend were over 4 years ago and are long gone. i want to be with him and thats that. well aparently that isnt good enough... i need your help.

how do i prove i want my ex and not his best friend????

Our Suggestion:
You have done the best you can already. You told him that your feelings for his best friend are over four years old and long gone. There is nothing more you can do to prove it except over time.

Explain this to your ex. In other words that nobody can prove things to another except by behaving properly over a length of time. You can also ask him what he would consider to be adequate proof (I doubt if he will be able to come up with anything.) Also ask him how he would prove that he had no feelings for his last girl friend. Again he would have no way to do it.

It sounds like he is trying to make you jump through hoops. And this is after HE restarted the relationship. I wouldn't play his game if I were you. That is not to say you should ignore his concerns but to not buy into them.

Good luck! George
