Keep open your connection with both girls, you never know when one relationship will end. But my suggestion is to go for the far away girl. A distance romance is always difficult but you said she is your type. Ask your parents to let you invite her for a weekend (or maybe something longer like Thanksgiving or a school break) so you can get to know each other better. Tell them that it would be good for you to meet in person so you don't waste your time online with someone you might not really get along with when you knew her better.
