He hates my family because he loves me...

Do you have some advice for this person?

Visitor's Question:
My boyfriend and I have been together for about 18months. We have lived together for the past 10 months. We never fight about anything between each other except the occasional child rearing disagreement. He however cannot stand my family! He thinks they are inconsiderate to my needs, try to overstep their boundries with my daughter, and disrespect to our relationship. While I agree with most things he feels I do not agree with his constant family bashing. I know they are not perfect but they are still my family and I love them. It causes fights because I get defensive and then he gets upset and then domino effect... He says he doesn't like them because he loves me and dosen't like the way they treat me but shouldn't he be sensitive to the fact that I still love them and am trying to see the positive?

Our Suggestion:
Yes, of course you are right. He should be more sensitive.

This type of problem is not easily resolved. Try telling him how you feel. If you already have then he isn't listening.

That would mean it's time to see a counselor for professional advice. It would be well worth the money.

Good luck and Happy Holidays! George
