I Want More Time in Bed - My Boyfriend Doesn't

Suggest Advice

Do you have some advice for this person?

Visitor's Question:
I have been with my boyfriend for almost 4 years now. I am with him all the time so I am almost positive that he does not cheat on me (you can never be too sure though). Anyway, I cannot figure out why sometimes we go without sex for weeks straight!!! He's a guy!! I thought guys wanted sex all the time.

I don't even want it all the time just once a week AT LEAST. Then when we finally do, we will have plenty of sex for the next couple of days or so, and then back to square one.

What is going on??? I trust him and I honestly do not think it is someone else. But I can't take not having sex for a month straight. I get very cranky and someimes depressed because I think it is me. Please e-mail me with some type of explanation because I don't understand. Thank You!!

Our Suggestion:
Now wait a minute, just because you're a girl, does that mean you have painted your entire room pink, have dolls on every shelf and wear pink clothes all the time with little bows in your hair?? I think not! Why would you start judging your boyfriend and demanding he act like a stereotypical guy? If he was a stereotypical guy, he'd never be nice to you, he'd blame you for everything, he'd always forget your birthday and go out drinking with the guys every night. Is that what you want?

Every human being has different levels of sexual desire. Many guys just aren't interested in sex! Heck, once a week is a level that many people would dream of. One of the most important things in every relationship is to find a balance. Whether it's the number of times you go out skiing, or the number of times you go see movies, or the amount of time you spend in bed, there are always compromises. You need to decide if you can be happy with what you have with him. Heck, if you have additional energy, go out dancing with friends other nights and burn it off. Wonderful boyfriends are not common. Ways to burn off energy are very common. I'd much rather keep him and handle the libido in other ways, than ditch him just because he'd rather snuggle than do the deed.

He should never have to "do you" just to prove he cares for you. Equating sex with love is something GUYS are supposed to do, not girls :)
