We Were Almost Engaged - Then Drifted Apart

Visitor's Question:
Me and my girlfriend recently broke up. We started dating 6 months ago. When we started dating, she was going back to college. The first semester was great. We had a wonderful time over christmas break, and even talked about getting married. We went as far as picking out engagement rings.

When she started back to school our relationship became very wierd. One minute we were very much in love and the next minute you could tell something wasn't right. We sat down and she told me that she loved me very much but she could not focus on school and be there for me. She sent me a message and said she was sorry, and wanted me to know she loved me, but she needed to be apart for now.

I am really in love with this girl and someday i would love to marry her. Could you tell me the best way to get her back. Should I stay distant and let her call me or what should I do.

Our Suggestion:
Many, many people are in long distance relationships where they are boyfriend-girlfriend but don't see each other every day. Why not agree to do that with her? Tell her that you'll focus on school all week long, and just see each other on weekends when you have time. If you can't, then that's fine too. A ton of people have relationships like that during school time ...
