Dealing with the Absent Mom of my Boyfriend's Kids

Suggest Advice

Do you have some advice for this person?

Visitor's Question:
I am dating this guy whom I love very much and I know he loves me. We have been together over a year and live together. The deal is that he has 2 children whom I also love deeply and the ex is not one of the best people. I trust him and I know he would never go back to her for all the years of trouble she has put him through but I have this feeling. I am not sure what it is. I understand that he will always have a relationship with her because of the children involved. Is this normal or is this feeling part of the acceptance of the situation? Please advise.

Our Suggestion:
It is a GOOD thing that an absent parent is involved with the kids. This is something you should want! If you really are jealous about this situation, there are trillions of books out there to help you through the issues. I really suggest getting a few, because this will be a constant situation as long as the kids are of non-adult age.
