I Want to Make Him Happy Suggest Advice Do you have some advice for this person? Visitor's Question: I recently just got involved in a relationship with a great guy. I'm 21 years old and this is my first relationship. I'm clueless. What can I do to show him how much I care? I know that actions speak louder than words, but I'm not sure what little things I can do to make sure he is happy. Our Suggestion: I know this is a semantics issue - but the role of a partner is not to spend your entire life to "make him happy". That turns you into a prostitute. People in a relationship should BE happy with themselves - and want to share their happy life with each other. You don't need to go around "making him happy" ever day. He shouldn't *expect* you to do that, either!! Instead, you guys should be best friends. You should plan ways, together, to have fun TOGETHER. That's what a relationship is about. You should go to restaurants you enjoy, do activities you enjoy. Go for walks, go biking, go wine tasting. Sharing that joy with each other is the foundation of a good relationship. If a relationship turns into a situation where the girl is "expecting" flowers and gems, and the guy is "expecting" hot cooked meals every night and intimacy on demand, that is when the whole thing falls apart.
