Do you have some advice for this person?

Visitor's Question:
I think that I might be in love with my best friend. His behavior leads me to believe that he likes me, (he doesn't act the same with our other feamle friends) but when I asked him out, [twice] he said that he only likes me as a friend.
1) How do I know if I truly love him?
2) How do I know if really does like me as more than a friend?
3) If I do love him and if he does like me too, what do I do now? I mean, he HAS SAID that he DOESN'T like me as more than a friend. Would it seem to persistent to ask him out for a third time?
SORRY I'm sending this message again! I accidentally selected the wrong age group! OOPS!

What it comes down to is that it's best if you move from friends to more, and hopefully at the same pace. If one person (you) is more eager to move foreward than the other (him) then it will be lopsided and uncomfortable for both of you. He's said he likes you only as a friend, so take that for now and simply put him on the back burner until he's ready. It might be that he's never ready so in the meantime you should be dating other people and finding someone who -does- like you more than just a friend.

Good luck!
