Do you have some advice for this person?

Visitor's Question:
My boyfriend just broke up with me yesterday and we have been together for 11 and a half monthes. I had a hard time trusting him and I was a little too controling, I always bitched about everything and when I got mad I would tell him it was over and 5 mins later i would be like "im sorry, I dont want to break up with you I love you" and be all kissy lovey and he told me he was sick of that. He told me that all off this stuff has been going on for too long and he is sick off it. I have liked him for 7 years and I dont want our relationship to change I love him with all of my heart and I really want to be with him for the rest of my life. He dont want me calling him and when I do he gets all mad at me and now he wont answer the phone. I have been calling him constantly trying to get him to give me one more chance to show him that I will change and he told me that he has given me enough chances already and that there will never be a me and him again. Do you have any advice for me on trying to get him to come back so we can be together and so I can prove to him that I am deffinity going to change and be better?

Our Suggestion:
I think that you're going to have to close the book on this one. He's given you close to a year to change, and only now at the threat of losing him have you finally gotten around to realizing that maybe your behavior might have been a little overboard. This is far too late to save a relationship, you've shot too many holes in your boat.

You're going to have to get over him and move on. The upside to it is that your next relationship will be much much better because you will have learned some really hard lessons with this relationship.

The only hope you have of salvaging this relationship at all is that you become friends with him, only friends, and date other people and let him know how it's going. Let him see you in action with these other relationships, and see how you've changed. Then maybe he might come around to thinking that something with you could possibly work. But that is a long road to take, and has a very little chance of success.

Sorry I couldn't be more upbeat for you.

Good luck!
Jenn
