Losing a friend?

Visitor's Question:
Okay. My girlfriend and I have been dating for 5 months now and are very much in love. It is a long distance relationship (I live in CO, she lives in IN) but everything is perfectly fine in that aspect. So here's my trouble: Earlier in the year, I got out of a 3 1/2 year relationship. My ex and I are still good friends. We don't see eachother much anymore, and only talk about once every 1-2 weeks if that. Well, the other night, she came over to watch a movie with my brother and me, which I didn't see much of a problem with, being that there truly isn't anything there anymore. So, I called up my girlfriend to run it by her, and she got a bit weirded out but told me to do what I want. And now, ever since then, things have been a little awkward between us. I don't know what to think.

Was I wrong in hanging out with my ex, even if we are just buddies and nothing more? And how can I continue a friendship with my ex while still being fair to my girlfriend now? Obviously my girlfriend is top priority, but I'd hate to lose such a good friend over all of this. And I don't think I should. I just don't know how to go about all of this if you know what I mean. Please Help. Thank you.

Our Suggestion:
Just ask your girl friend if she has a problem with your being a friend with your ex. Get her to give you her honest feelings. Then take it from there.

Good luck,
George
