Visitor's Question:
My ex and I had been dating for 2 1/2 years, when it happened. We were doing really well. He told me that night he loved me a bunch of times. Well, he got very very drunk, and wanted a cig. I wouldn't give him one, so he hit and pushed me (he has never done this before, and is normally a very sweet gently guy). I had alcohol problems in the past, and there were a couple times I blacked out and was mean to him (about 6 months ago). I changed my ways however, and we were doing awesome. So after the incident, I acted like I didn't care because I had put him through something like that before. Later on that night however, I asked him about if he had remembered hitting me, and he said no. I got upset and asked his roomates about it. No one believed me (cuz of how I used to be), which made me even more upset. So they kicked me out, and the boyfriend said it was over.

I've given him his space. I've also left him one voicemail telling him I was sorry for hurting him and even told him I was going to rehab, which I did. I even sent his parents flowers, thanking them for being like second parents. He's in two of my classes and I see him Monday. I love the boy with all my heart and would love some advice as to how to get him back.

Our Suggestion:
You are taking all the right steps now.

Next you should work on rebuilding your friendship. Do this slowly and gradually introduce the idea of getting back together.

Communication is the key to rebuilding relationships. He probably still has feelings for you and given some time, he might become your boyfriend again.

Good luck!
George
