Visitor's Question:
I'm 23 and recently lost my virginity a few weeks ago with my boyfriend. I seem to get bothered and sensitive easily any little thing and the faucets start to run I think its just all the stress building up, trying to satisfy everyone and not disappointing people I care about. I come from a very religious family and though they all say they never had premarital sex I find it difficult to believe. My father is still very over protective over me and refuses to let me stay the night at anyone's house especially my boyfriend's. I know I'm above age and can do what I want but also I don't want to disappoint my father. I want to be honest with him then again I know my not saving myself for marriage is a huge disappointment. I don't want to be thought less of or worse like this whore because it has not changed the person that I am inside. You think I should be honest with my parents that their youngest child and only daughter is no longer a virgin if so how do I explain to them, or should I just keep making up these lies like a teenager again all I do know is it's really tearing me up inside. Help me please!!!!

Our Suggestion:
When the subject comes up, tell your parents. Or if you really want to get it over with tell them now.

You are 23 and the national average for both male and female virginity loss is 17 years old. Tell them you are sorry to disappoint them but you waited as long as you could.

They may be dismayed when you first tell them, but they will get over it.

Good luck!
George
