But about once a week we have a gutwrenching fight

Visitor's Question:
I am on the tail end of a seperation and I am getting divorced. The man I have been seeing now is the love of my life I am sure...the experiences and good times we share have been unparalleled in my life. But about once a week we have a gutwrenching fight, typically when one or the other is stressed and tired, and it's because we hit a nerve that reminds us of something negative in our past romances. I think there is a common thread in the fear that the other is going to find some reason to leave. I almost never see it coming on either end and I don't want this to be a trend. Should we spend more time apart to work out these issues with our past love lives alone? He says that isn't necessary, but I think it may be what we need. We love each other in so many great ways and the understanding is phenomenal...we just don't understand why it is that we fight. And so intensely. Please help in anyway you can.

Our Suggestion:
I think you've hit the nail on the head about why your fight and what about.

My advice is to see a marriage counselor and get some professional advice on this situation. It would be terrible to see you two get off on a bad start.

Good luck!
George
