I did not like him then, I like him drastically less now. He was required by law to sober up and he expressed that he really wanted to. I, in the meantime, sobered up too, he ended up as my renter, then my lover, then he went to rehab and when home, he began sharing the main house with me (I own "affordable" housing that has a rental studio). I had a lot of hope for him, his efforts were just short of valient. To make a long story short, I fell in love with all that we learned we wanted to do together. As part of my household, i wanted to relieve his $10,000 financial burdens so we could start OUR household together, burden free. Unfortunately, I and my dog became the recipient of his episodes of rage, that apparently, drugs and alcohol were suppressing. In the meantine, I have alienated my friends, and spent all of my time sitting with his problems and tiny specs of hope. Well, he is out of my house (no more holes in the wall) and in the company of 19 year olds (we are 32 and 36). He is drinking and relapsing continuously (despite being on probation). I am so bitter, I know I will never see the rest of the money I am owed, $8,500. I want my money back, as long as he doesn't pay me, he plays his control games. If he doesn't pay, ask a lawyer for advice... most lawyers don't charge for the initial visit. Even if the lawyer only writes him a letter it may scare him into paying you back. Good luck!
