Visitor's Question:
My girlfriend just recently broke up with me because she started having doubts about if she was in love. We have been going out for over a year and a half and hardly ever had any real disagreements. Maybe one or two but nothing major. I had a history of treating women like crap and even did that to her until she finally broke me down. She had a problem too with staying faithful with past boyfriends. We were perfectly fine until the time when had to leave school and move to different places but we had the goal of meeting up in a few months. This summer we talked on the phone everyday and saw each other once. Just recently she started having doubts about everything because she started to get comfortable at home, work and meeting new people especially a guy from her new job. She didn't know if she wanted to move out here because she thought it was such a big commitment but I don't see it that way. She decided that she needs some time and wanted to see if she is truly in love with me or is there someone else. So she wants to see where things will take her with this guy. Also, she keeps saying that I'm saying I can't live without her but I've never said that. Only saying that we should take things one day at a time not thinking about the future but what we have today. I told her I still loved her and didn't want to lose her but I would give her space.I have text messaged her once in a while but haven't talked to her yet. I love this girl with everything that I hold close to me and just want to be with her even if I have to make some sacrifices. What should I do?

Our Suggestion:
Sometimes the harder you try to grip something the more it slips away.

My advice is to keep talking with her and try to work things out. However, don't press so hard that you lose her forever.

If she is determined to have a break, there is not much you can do about except to break up entirely with her. Then if she wants to come back she can.

You have to make up your mind what will work best for you.

Good luck!
George
