Visitor's Question:
Actually, I'm not trying to break up with anybody, but I want to know how to turn someone down with hurting them.
I'm 23 years old and I work with a boy who is about 16 or 17, I'm not sure.Anyways, at work we have become good friends and I've started to think of him as a little brother. In fact I have two brothers that are just a little older and a little younger than he is, so you know what it's like.Well, I recently left that job to go back to school and he said he was really going to miss me and he got my phone number and everything.Last night he called me to say hi.Now I'm not sure if he likes me or not but if he does, how do I tell him how I feel (that I think of him as a little brother) without completely hurting his feelings.I have three brothers and I know boys at that age get their feelings hurt very easily.Thank you

Our Suggestion:
Tell him in a gentle and caring way that you consider him a very good friend but that you prefer to not have a dating relationship.

Tell him that you like him a lot and that he is welcome to call you anytime he wants to.

You might even remind him you are 23 and looking for a man to possibly marry and have kids with. (This will remind him of the age difference).

That should be enough to get the message across without hurting him.

Good luck!
George
