Visitor's Question:
My wife, left me recently for a guy she met over the internet, in a chat room. They met once here in Canada he flew up from St. Louis, after their meeting they continued to keep in touch by email, chat, and phone. This started in Feb. of this year, on Aug 10th she left me with 3 kids after an 18 year relationship. I was able to get into her email and read some of the email he had sent her, and he was continually slamming me, but up until 5 days prior to her leaving our relationship was very good, we talked our sex life was great she always wanted to hug and kiss me before I went to work. But suddenly he was coming up to take her to St. Louis, and she told me that she loves me but does'nt want to be with me?
I don't know how to get over this, less then two weeks later she phoned me and told me she wanted to come home, that she missed me and that she had put her wedding ring back on, so I paid for a ticket a little over $1000 and when she got home she had decided that she wanted to go back? all I know is that he is 25, she is 32, we have been together 18 yrs. have 3 kids who are with me, she says she loves me, I truly love her, and she wants me to be happy with her leaving.
One last thing, since she came back on aug. 23 she has shown signs of love toward me, we have had sex 3 times, and I have told her numerous time that I want her to always know that I am here for her, and I will always love her. How do I deal with this?? thanks CR

Our Suggestion:
You are doing amazingly well so far.

She shows definite signs of preferring you to the other guy. Now she wants to go back. I wonder why. Is it the stress or humdrum of daily life that has got her down? Three children are quite a workload (as you must now know).

Could you discuss this aspect of her life situation with her and see if there is anything that can be done to relieve her of whatever is bothering her. She may feel good about sharing her feelings with you.

As long as she loves you, you have a great chance of keeping her home. Have you considered going to a professional marital therapists? It would be a good idea.

Good luck!
George
