Visitor's Question:
My girlfriend and I of three years recently broke up. We got together in high school and stayed together until now. No major fights and no real problems. We're both freshmen in college now and attending the same school. We were suposedly both very in love with eachother. We were fine and hanging out, she would talk to me all the time and even ask me to come see her in the middle of the night. Then, out of nowhere, she tells me that she thinks that she needs a break from our relationship. Later that week we talk again and she decides that she wants to see other people and that we should just break up for the time being. It's a strange situation because she still acts like she wants to be with me. She calls me and she'll say that she loves me. When we see eachother in person, it is like it was while we were still together, except less physical contact. She still hugs me and kisses me when we leave eachother.
Last night, she was out of town and i went over to see her roomate. Her roomate and I had been friends before the split, and i was not going over there for any reason involving my "ex". While I was there I called her and talked to her and things seemed okay. She got off of the phone because she had to get in the shower. About ten minutes later, i hear the phone next door ring. It turns out that she had called her next door neighbor "guy friend". I confronted her about this and she claims that they are just friends. I let her know that I understand and that I know that it is part of us not being together for the moment. I asked her if this was the reason that she had suddenly broke it off between us but she said no. She said that she feels like she just isnt in love with me right now anymore.
I understand that she feels like she needs her space and wants to see other people. This relationship is the first and only real relationship that either of us have had. I love this girl more than anything. I want to know if there is a chance and what i can do to get her back with me and loving me again. I understand that time apart is probably best right now but it just really hurts that she tells me this when we were acting so fine together just a day before. What is going on?

Our Suggestion:
She wants her space and to see other people.

To find out why she changed her mind so fast, ask her.

The best way to get her back is to be her best friend with a shoulder she can lean on and a trusting soul. Don't drag up your relationship anymore unless she does. One day she may get back that loving feeling and you will be there waiting. Make sure she knows you love her and that you are waiting.

Good luck!
George
