Visitor's Question:
Okay, so there's this guy in my English class who I've suddenly developed a major crush on. Of course, we've got really opposite personalities and backgrounds...I'm shy, he's the class clown. I'm a straight-A student, while he's borderline-failing all his classes. I'm a goodie-two-shoes, and he's got a few...less-than-safe hobbies. It doesn't really make sense why I like him so much, considering he didn't even know my name until a few weeks ago. And just to make matters worse, he's really great friends with my cousin, who's the most popular girl in school now. She keeps telling me all these really great things about this guy and that I should talk to him more, but he pays almost no attention to me, and refers to me as "C*'s cousin" instead of using my name. And when I try to talk to him, either get too nervous to actually make a conversation with him, or he gets distracted. Is my situation too complicated and hopeless, or can I make it all work out in the end like one of Shakespeare's plays?

Our Suggestion:
Yeah, it might end up like Romeo and Juliet :)

Seriously though, could this be a classic case of good girl falling for bad guy? You probably feel like you are missing things in life and imagine that with him you would get more into the mainstream.

But, that's no reason to forget him. He probably feels nervous in your presence because he knows you are "better" than he is. Every time you see him, greet him using his name, looking him in the eye, and giving him a big smile. When he calls you "* cousin" shout out in no uncertain terms (but in a funny way) that your name is **** (if you can pronounce that).

You'll be sure to catch his attention and become friends. Then who knows what will develop from that.

Good luck! George
