Ok so here we go, I am a college student and I am doing a research paper on the effects of the "ideal" images of men and women presented in advertisements, and how these ads affect heterosexual marriages and relationships. This has been a tough topic to research because not many people seem to see a problem with this issue or they just never noticed it. I chose this topic based on personal experience with my mother and father. My Dad would always make comments about the women he saw on TV in front of or to my Mom which would ultimately make her feel like she wasn't attractive enough anymore. They got divorced as a result of the constant low self esteem that she felt and decided she wasn't gonna take it anymore. So here is my main problem, I am having a lot of trouble finding actual research articles on this that contain facts that advertisements containing "ideal" images of men and women are a contributor to the divorce rate and break up of relationships. Are there any resources that you can offer me that are focused specifically on this issue? Or do you have any advice that I could quote in my paper?

and the best I could come up with was from bellaonline (a well know "woman's" site.

Ask your university librarian in reference... they are highly trained professionals and know the sources... almost like a living google :)
Go back to them when you need more help. Also a scholarly article on this subject (if it could be found) would have lots of references that you could then followup on.

Sorry I don't have the expertise to make any comment on my own other than you have found an interesting topic that seems to have merit.
