How can I force myself to ignore him?

Do you have some advice for this person?

Visitor's Question:
We began dating shortly after he broke up with his girlfriend of 4 years. My timing was probably bad because of his situation, but it was love at first sight. Seven months later, he says he wants to break up so he can start talking to her and become "friends" with her again, and maybe get back together if that's what they decide. He didn't realize all this time he still had feelings for her. He says he still loves me and calls me all the time, acting like we're old friends. He just "needs to do this" and see what's best for him. My heart is broken, but I'm not strong enough to ignore him. I can't even get angry, I'm so lost. How can I force myself to ignore him? And why does he still call me anyway?

Our Suggestion:
He calls you because he wants to be friends with you.

That means he still has warm feelings toward you. If you want him back, hang around as a friend; if you don't want him back then tell him you are uncomfortable being friends since you are trying to forget him.
