I was yelling a lot

Visitor's Question:
my boyfriend and i have been together for a little over a year. lately we have been fighting a lot over big issues that could have been solved by talking it out. i have a tendancy to yell especially when he doesn't respond at all. since he was not talking i was yelling a lot. so he decided on tuesday to leave. i thought he was coming back the next day. he was seeing a friend off to the army. but then he called and said he needs space to think about this life and i have not heard from him since. it has been 5 days since i have seen him and 3 since we talked. i am devistated and can't eat or function. i love him more than life. i admit that i am the person more in the wrong here. i should not have yelled and i am working on that. for everyone. not just him and i. what do i do? i am not sure when he is coming home or even if he is. he has contacted a mutual friend and says that he is not sure when and is still mad. what if he never comes back? i am certain we were supposed to be together but have i ruined that?

Our Suggestion:
It's too early to say how this will turn out.

Getting some help in anger management might be helpful to you. A professional counselor could help you with this.

Try to strike this deal with your b/f... whenever you start to yell, he will give you the peace sign and you will stop yelling. Face it, a long time habit like yelling won't go away overnight no matter how much you want it to.

Ask him to come over for his favorite delicious home cooked meal to talk things over. Most men can't resist good food. If you aren't up to cooking, then invite him out for dinner.

Good luck! George
