she said i love you

Visitor's Question from a 16-20 year old Male
it was valentines day today and i was with my ex girlfriend. we have a very close relationship she is currently trying to "figure out" what it is that she wants.its like we're together just not officially.so we were together having fun and i tell her i love her and it slipped from her i mouth i guess and she said i love you too baby.she says she doesnt love me i dont know if she does or doesnt and dont know if she is saying these things.why is something like that going to slip from her mouth is she loving me and not knowing it or was it just a mistake?

Sometimes when someone says "I love you" the other person automatically replies with the same statement.

It's probably a natural reaction so as not to hurt the other person.

I wouldn't take it too seriously but definitely follow up on it.
