How can I get him back

Hi,

My boyfriend (ex) and I have been off and on for 2.5 years. I love him very much and he says he loves me too, as a person. The last time we got back together we started looking for houses and started talking long term. Then be backed out AGAIN. I don't understand. How can we go talking about the future one minute and then break up the next? In my Valentines card he wrote that he hoped we share many more memories together, then 2-3 weeks later we break up. I never cheated on him and he never cheated on me, he just says the chemistry is gone for him. I don't get it. Can you please help? We did agree to stay friends and hang out once in a while. Is there anything I can do to get him back? I truly love him and want to be with him. Any help you can offer would be great. Is there something I can do to get chemistry back? I still feel the chemistry but he apparently does not. Any advice would be helpful!!
